Unique Atlanta $5 Federal Reserve Bank NoteFr. 788a $5 1915 Federal Reserve Bank Note PMG Very Fine 25.
In early 2009, we featured this previously unknown discovery note in our Central States Signature Auction. The importance of the discovery was elaborated on in our description, "Previously, Atlanta Federal Reserve Bank Notes were known with the signatures of Pike and McCord and Bell and Wellborn. This note bears the signature of Bell as Secretary and McCord as Governor, a signature combination that was not even reputed to exist prior to the discovery of this evenly circulated 1915 FRBN five. This note will be listed in the upcoming edition of the Friedberg reference and will now become an essential part of any collection of Friedberg numbers that dares to attempt completion." Since this note's appearance, the variety has been listed in the Friedberg reference, Paper Money of the United States. It is the guidebook by which almost all currency type and number collecting is based. This new type stands as a roadblock for any FRBN collector needing to complete a number set for the denomination or the entire FRBN series.
