Fr. 730 $1 1918 Federal Reserve Bank Note PCGS Gem New 66PPQ.
Until this piece was consigned, the highest-grade Fr. 730 that we had auctioned was a PMG 65 EPQ in September of 2008. That note, which was also a two-digit solid, serial number H77A, realized $2,990. This note is clearly its superior, both in the world of third-party grading and in the actual world of currency. The note bears serial number H44A, and it is a pristine beauty, with perfect colors, incredible margins and deep, obvious original embossing. Low serial numbers are regaining traction, and as evidenced by our September sale of last year, Federal Reserve Bank Notes have increased tremendously in popularity. It's a combination that could bring a surprisingly high realization this evening.
