Hessler SCE12 Fr. 268 1896 $5 Silver Certificate Face Proof New.A lovely black and white Face Proof for this illustrious issue dated 1895. During the approval process many minor changes occurred prior to the release of the finished product in 1896. A quick check in the Hessler tome shows an image for this catalog number and identifies this proof by the placement of the "W" in Washington, D.C. The print quality is sharp and overall look of this piece on India paper backed by card appears as though it was just done earlier today. Certain to prove popular here this evening.
