Hessler 469C/Fd 16 1880 $10 Back Proof. PCGS Choice New 63.This back proof was printed on cardstock and then attached to a light cardstock backing. This sturdy method for backing proofs certainly helps them to ward off unwanted creases as this example can attest to. This handsome proof has retained its dark green ink and white paper over the intervening 120 years. An annotation at the bottom of the card reads "Proof of Old flat piece before working over. Started new die Apr 7/96. T.F. M." On the back, a pencil annotation reads "Design # 16."
