Fr. 116 $10 1901 Legal Tender Face Proof Hessler UNL New.A pleasing Black & White Bison face proof printed on India paper and adhered to wide margin paper. At center is the engraving of "Pablo" the famed bison with end portraits of Lewis and Clark. Zero number perforations are seen at lower left and upper right. This lovely item is currently unlisted in Hessler. When previously described at auction, the cataloger called it a "stunning black and white proof" and "one of the most famous Federal large size type notes... truly a showpiece." Since this proof was printed on bright, snow white paper, the eye appeal is incredibly impactful with the finely engraved, jet black lines. Some trivial corner bumps affect nothing. Expect some sprinted bidding to acquire this note here this evening.
