Likely Unique Signed & Issued Temporary Loan of 1862-1864 With Amount to be Filled In

$3000 Temporary Loan of 1862-1864 Philadelphia Office of the Assistant Treasurer of the United States March 17, 1866 Hessler X134F PMG About Uncirculated 55.
This is a unique item to our best knowledge, and is a partner to the certificate illustrated in Hessler's An Illustrated History of U.S. Loans 1775-1898" on page 234. The illustrated note example is the original loan certificate made payable to Mr. Jacob C. Nostrand bearing serial number 19679. This is the duplicate copy of the same certificate, and bears the same serial number, having been presented for payment on March 17, 1866. The note has a bright green reverse, and stamped on the front in red is the message "This duplicate is to be transmitted on receipt by depositor to the Secretary of the Treasury: in default of which the original will not be received as evidence of deposit without additional proof." The central vignette is entitled "Pro Patria." Our consignor obtained this piece nearly two decades ago, and we have seen no others. A pinhole and slight evidence of a previous mounting (which likely accounts for its survival) on the reverse are noticed.
