    Attractive $20 Compound Interest Treasury Note

    Fr. 191a $20 1864 Compound Interest Treasury Note PMG Very Fine 25 Net.
    Though the Fr. 191a is the more available of the two signature combinations on Compound Interest $20s, it is by no means common, as fewer than sixty-five examples are listed in the census between the two numbers. Although PMG mentions "Repaired," on the reverse of the holder, the repairs were done professionally and with consummate skill, with the appearance of the note easily matching the Very Fine 25 grade assigned by PMG. The bronze is bright, the red overprint sharply defined, and the colors and overall appearance are far above average for notes from this series.
