Giori Press Jefferson Black Ink Face Reddish-Brown Ink Back Test Note Gem Crisp Uncirculated.
This is one of the Giori test notes that was printed in West Germany in the 1950s. These test notes should have been destroyed, but they were spirited away into the collector community. It is permissible to collect these interesting items as they are not obligations of the United States. Also, they have cancellation bars that are printed through the portraits. This example is one of the scarcer Giori varieties with Lincoln, Jefferson, and Grant portraits. Gioris are known by their center portrait, either Jefferson or Washington. Also, all Jefferson Gioris have inverted backs with this piece printed on watermarked paper.
