Sole Finest Large Size $50 Gold

Fr. 1200 $50 1922 Gold Certificate PMG Superb Gem Unc 67 EPQ.
PMG has graded 814 Fr. 1200s and the note in this lot is the sole finest. This can be taken further as this example is also the finest large size $50 Gold with no equals for the denomination within the PMG Population Report. It is a gorgeous note with excellent color on both face and back. The all-important orange ink on both sides has remained true for this note that is from a series that is now 100 years old. Our ruler confirms our suspicions that it is well centered within balanced margins. We also found out that the face to back registration is right on the money, too. A large amount of natural paper wave is observed on the back running from the top to the bottom edge and across the back of the note horizontally. A superbly preserved note if there ever was one and certainly a treat to behold and describe for the collector community. This note has been known to paper money enthusiasts for over a decade, but this is its first time to appear in a brick and mortar auction house offering.
