Multiple plate numbers Fr. 1299 25¢ Third Issue PCGS About New 50.
A wonderfully margined and highly desirable example of this scarce solid surcharged fiber paper Fessenden note. Plenty of original embossing is noticed and this note is free of the usual splits, tears and cracks that plague these fragile notes. What makes this note particularly interesting is that there are both a face and a back plate number. There is a "6" in the upper left face corner and most of a "2" at the back upper left corner. Quite an interesting anomaly since we rarely see fractionals with plate numbers on both sides. At our 2012 FUN Sale we sold a PMG EF 40 EPQ for $1,265 and this note is certainly much nicer than that one.
