    Very Rare Fr. 1329 Specimen

    Fr. 1329SP 50¢ Third Issue Spinner Face PMG About Uncirculated 53.
    Previously lot 16260 from our Spring 2005 auction of the O'Mara Collection. It was described there as "An extremely rare specimen with only four or five narrow-margin examples known (and only three wide margins). This note has all of its deep original embossing as well as far better margins than the typical narrow-margin specimens. It would be a perfect Gem were it not for some minor ink cracking in the broad pen strokes of Spinner's signature." PMG has graded this note 53 and commented "Ink Burn." They have spelled both of those words correctly, but they were not as lucky with "O'Mara" which they spelled O'Meara. Nine years ago this very rare piece realized $2,530.
