    Rare Friedberg 1296

Fr. 1296 25c Third Issue PMG Choice Uncirculated 63 EPQ. From CAA's 2001 FUN auction where the description read, "A near Gem example of this rare variety, with the extra-large 'a' placed 7mm to the lower right of its normal position. This unusual size and placement occurred only on plate 3144, which was one of the 90 plates used for the issue (information that was originally published in Paper Money Magazine Volume 11 #2 page 80, in 1972.) If the bottom margin were a trifle larger, the note would be a perfect gem. It has ideal paper quality, three large margins, perfect back centering and deep, original embossing. It also happens to be the upper-left-corner subject from the sheet, with the indentation of plate's corner clearly visible." PMG has now agreed with our original grade and included the EPQ designation as well.
