Fr. 1272SP 15¢ Third Issue Glued Specimen Very Fine.
Both halves of this Specimen note have been glued together. This piece is actually made up of a Fr. 1272SP Narrow Margin face and a Fr. 1272SP Narrow Margin Green Back glued together. Due to the Act of April 7, 1866 that forbade the portrait of any living person to be placed on United States banknotes, the Grant-Sherman 15¢ notes were only produced as uniface Specimen. This note is wholly intact. It is not separating as some of these "constructed notes" are prone to do. It shows evidence of previous mounting with stamp hinges. There will be no return on this lot for any reason.
