Fr. 1238 5¢ Third Issue PCGS Superb Gem New 68PPQ.In our April 2009 Central States Signature Auction, this note realized more than $2,070. Since then, nothing has changed in regards to its grade rarity, which was outlined in the description, "Boardwalk margins surround the face design on this extraordinary 5¢ Clark. It is the highest graded by PCGS by a full two points, and PMG has graded a single 67, but no 68. Formerly from the Milt Friedberg Collection, which we sold in January of 1997. Milt always thought this to be one of his finest notes and twenty years later, PCGS seems to agree. An outstanding piece of Fractional destined for the finest of collections." As the finest known example of the number from either service, we would not be surprised to see a similar realization again this evening.
