    Description

Fr. 1237 5c Third Issue Gem Crisp Uncirculated. The quality of this note can only be described as immaculate and that is a term which is rarely used on this very scarce "a" on face red back variety. The margins are plentiful to the point that you can see the full impression of the plate in the top border and a partial impression in the left border. This note has excellent embossing and the print quality is bold and razor sharp. There is some pressbed smearing on the right side of the back of the note but this is very minor compared to that which is often seen due to its plate position on the left side of the sheet. In your cataloger's opinion this is one of the nicest ones around and Kravitz gives a value of $950 in Gem CU. This is a note which combines scarcity and quality which have been driving the fractional market to new heights in recent times.
