    Description

Fr. 1227 3¢ Third Issue Full Sheet of Twenty-Five PCGS Extremely Fine 45.
This is only the second time we have sold a complete sheet of the dark curtain variety of the Third Issue 3¢ notes. Milt Friedberg listed this as 3R3.2c with a census of 4 at the time his Encyclopedia was updated in 2000. No other examples have come to light as far as we know. There have been only two auctions in the last 40+ years that contained a dark curtain sheet, the Bowers & Ruddy Russell sale in 1971 and the Ford Part III sale in May 2004. This sheet is closely margined on all four sides, and has front plate number 62 and back number 5 in the normal position. This lot presents a seldom occurring opportunity for the advanced Fractional collector to add a true rarity to their collection. "Paper toned and small edge tears" are noted on the holder.
