Second Issue 50c Experimental Gem New. This note was from the John Fraser Collection sold in February, 1982. It's a perfect piece that very likely traces it's history to Ed Frossard's October, 1893 fixed price listing of the S. M. Clark Collection. The partial date of December 7, 1863 is written in the left face margin. While a side by side comparison of the actual notes would be necessary to prove a certainty, we are almost positive that this note mates with Lot 1043 from our Sale of the Friedberg Collection in January of 1997, which contained the top portion of this same date in its right margin. This piece is Milton 2E50F.4.
