Milton 2E25F UNL 25¢ Second Issue Experimental Skeleton 25 Surcharge Pair PCGS Banknote Uncirculated 62, cancellation slits.
This almost certainly unique note can trace its history back to the F.C.C. Boyd estate. It was lot 153 in Stack's October 11, 2007 sale. It is a 25¢ vertical pair with a huge amount of selvage between the two notes. Both notes lack the enactment date and were printed from different plates. On the top note, the oval frame around Washington's portrait is noticeably broader and slightly irregular. That part of the note is completely accomplished on the lower subject. There is no printed denomination on either subject, but both have the large "25" bronze similar to the bronze on the back of all other Second Issue 25¢ notes. The shape of the "25" bronze is slightly, but noticeably different than that found on regular issue notes. The standout difference is that the digits were formed with two parallel lines. On all issued notes and other Experimentals, the outline of the "25" is solid. The note lacks an exact Milton number, but is most similar to Milton 2E25F.1a. There are six small cancellation slits near the top edge. It still remains a true highlight from our consignor's collection.
