Description

Moskovitz Fractional Currency Display Board with Unique Invert.
This beautiful presentation board contains eight Second and five Third Issue Specimen notes. A very rare Second Issue 50¢ note, with the back surcharge inverted, is the centerpiece of the board. This note is Milton 2S50R.1d and is listed as R-8 (2-3 known). In his Encyclopedia, Milt lists this note and a note on a gray shield as the only examples known. No example appeared in the Friedberg, O'Mara, or Ford/Boyd sales. The Second Issue is also represented by a pair of wide margin 25¢ and 50¢ notes along with a pair of 10¢ narrow-margin notes. The Third Issue is represented by a pair of narrow-margin 3¢ notes (dark curtain face) and a face and red-and-green back 5¢ Clark specimens. Mr. Irving Moskovitz was a renowned collector and exhibitor of coins and currency in the 1960s. He had artcraft exhibit boards developed for his exhibits by Edwin Leslie. They were beautifully hand lettered in red, gold, and black calligraphy. This board was sold in the Abner Kreisberg sale as lot 1637 for $1100.
