    Description

Milton 2E25R.4 25¢ Second Issue Essay Back PMG Choice Uncirculated 63.
A possibly unique off-color Proof, it is referred to as an Essay on the holder, although Essay and Proof have started to be used interchangeably. The note is printed in black ink, and has all of the features of a finished back plate 25¢ Second Issue example. It lacks the bronze surcharges, is printed on thin, soft paper which is mounted on card, and is without any POCs. The print quality is incredible, leaving this cataloger inclined to refer to this as a Proof. Our consignor purchased it from Rob Kravitz, who also referred to it as "Unique - no history, not seen before."
