    Description

Milton 2E25R.1d 25¢ Second Issue Negative Essay PMG Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ, 2 POCs.
This Negative Essay 25¢ piece was missing from both the Milton Friedberg and O'Mara collections. It almost certainly traces its history back to the 1893 Frossard listing of the Spencer Clark Collection, as it has a penciled "30" in the upper left corner of the blank back. The deep purple ink is stunning on this piece. All four of the "D-5-18-63" corner surcharges as well as the large "25" are brightly bronzed. Add to this the ultra high grade and you have one very important note. When we auctioned this note as lot 13374 in January 2010, it realized $4,312.
