Magnificently Mounted Fractional Specimen Collection. We sold this item to its present owner as Lot 1200 from our January 1997 Milt Friedberg Collection. It was described there, "This outstandingly beautiful presentation board contains eleven Specimen notes: a 10¢ Third Issue hand-signed Colby Spinner Wide Margin Face along with its Red and Green Backs, a Narrow Margin Colby Spinner hand-signed Justice face and Spinner Face and their respective Red and Green Backs, and lastly, a very rare 50¢ Fifth Issue Back on India paper, this final, very rare Specimen appearing through the mounting to be a Gem. Its margins are fuller than one would expect, and the paper seems absolutely perfect. The presentation board itself is done in red, gold and black calligraphy. Formerly from the Moskowitz Collection, Milt retained this magnificent item in its original form. Most all other Moskowitz boards have been broken apart and the items scattered about the market place. We hope this wonderful display piece remains together." When we sold Milt's Collection, this board appeared hanging above Milt's desk in the photo that appeared with his biography on page 4 of our catalog. The subsequent purchaser, who is now our consignor, corresponded with Milt about the item and received a signed copy of that page with the following quote, "I hope you enjoy the 'Moskowitz' board as much as I did!" Signed and dated by Milt February 5, 1997. That signed page is included with the lot. It is now time to pass this great Fractional Collectible on to a new owner.
