Fractional Currency Shield, With Gray Background.
A nicer-than-average gray Shield that we have had the pleasure of offering in quite a while. The gray background is still fully intact and is boldly printed, and all the notes are bright except for the 25¢ Second Issue back, which has faded to light blue as is almost always seen. The four hand-signed notes, the Justice and Spinner 50¢ notes, the Grant-Sherman 15¢, and the Washington 10¢, are all of the Jeffries-Spinner signature combination. There are two additional anomalies on this shield: the normal buff colored paper that the 5¢ and 25¢ First Issue notes are printed on has a distinct pink cast to it. Also, the Third Issue 10¢ back has the large denomination 10 shifted lower than normal. There is very minimal water staining at the bottom that was a result of damage that occurred while they were in storage at the BEP before being shipped off to banks. The frame is made of dark wood and has a gold leaf inner border but all shields were shipped flat, so no frames are true BEP issue.
