Gray Fractional Currency ShieldFr. 1382 Fractional Currency Shield, With Gray Background.
A beautifully bright Shield with all of the notes retaining their full flashy color, with the exception of the purple 25¢ Second Issue back which, as always, has faded to light blue. The Shield has light age spots throughout the design, but they appear on the background only and are not present on the notes. The frame is not contemporary and is simple, but attractive, and is a medium brown (pine?) wood. Three of the four hand-signed notes are Jeffries-Spinner and the Justice is a Colby-Spinner. At the upper-right corner, a Fifth Issue 50¢ Crawford note has been glued in place. The shield has two folds, neither of which intrude into any notes, and there is a light stain to the left of the added Crawford note. An overall, better than average example ready to hang in a den or office.
