    Description

Fr. 1357aSP 50¢ Third Issue Justice PCGS Choice About New 58.
A most unusual note with the left hand signature of the Register not that of Noah Jeffries. Although the hand written signature is clearly written, we are unable to identify it. There are a number of possibilities here all of which are purely conjecture. The most likely of them would be that an assistant register or other Treasury official signed this note as a souvenir for himself or a friend or relative. Another possibility is that someone else was signing for Jeffries (there are a number of seemingly different Jeffries' signatures) and he or she (Spinner broke tradition by hiring women for Treasury positions) simply forgot for a moment and signed their own name. In any event this high-end AU is an important new discovery that is very difficult to estimate.
