Fr. 1309 25¢ Fifth Issue Courtesy Autograph PCGS Banknote Uncirculated 62.
A decent Uncirculated example of a Fifth Issue 25¢ note. Boldly autographed across the back by B.K. Bruce. Blanche Kelso Bruce, who never seems to get any mention these days, was born into slavery in Virginia and went on to be Register of the Treasury and was also the first Black to be elected and serve a full term in the U.S. Senate (1875-1881 Republican Mississippi.) This note, which originally surfaced on eBay, was Lot 15845 in our 2005 O'Mara auction. It realized over $500 at that sale.
