    Description

Fr. 1289 25¢ Second Issue PCGS Banknote Choice Unc 63.
We sold this note 20 years ago, and at that time, we used this description: "This beauty is one of the very nicest examples we've seen of this elusive number. It's broadly margined all around the face, and the beautifully bright back, although slightly off-center to the left, is well clear of the edge. The back surcharges are particularly sharp, and the back is printed in the attractive lilac color associated primarily with this very scarce number. CAA has handled the finest Fractional Collections ever auctioned, and we have seen only one or two examples of Fr. 1289 superior to this note." All of that still holds today. This beautiful fiber paper note's sheer visual impact makes it much more valuable than a typical example for the grade.
