    Description

Fr. 1238 5¢ Third Issue Inverted Back PMG About Uncirculated 53 EPQ.
"One of the very finest of the half-dozen known examples of Inverts for this number, and, even more importantly, one of fewer than ten Inverts known for the 5c Clark type when all four Friedberg numbers are considered. The paper surfaces are strictly original, and none of the design touches any edge on either side." This was our description when we sold this very note for over $1,000 in our 2004 Central States sale. Since that time two more examples appeared in the Ford/Boyd collection. One of those sold for over $1,000 last year and was housed in a PCGS Extremely Fine 45 holder. Notes such as this tend to weather the storm of fluctuating valuations over the years and continue to increase in both value and desirability with the passage of time.
