    Description

Milton 1E5F.2 5¢ First Issue Essay Superb Gem New. Printed in black on a soft yellow paper. The underlying yellow color gives the black ink a deep slate grey appearance. This note is from the finished plate, differing from a regular-issue face printing only in its color, paper and double frame line. The condition is absolutely flawless, without the slightest hint of a defect, and the deep, original embossing is plainly evident on the blank back. It is very rarely that any Fractional Currency Essay can be called Gem. The note we offer here is unquestioned in its extreme rarity and flawless in its condition. ex-Chapman October 20, 1904 and CAA 1/97.
