Fr. 1241 10¢ First Issue PMG Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ.
"One of the very nicest, if not the very nicest example we have seen of this number. This piece, which CAA sold as part of the DeRosa Collection in 1996, is a truly exceptional example of this perforated no-monogram type. Certain to bring a runaway price." That was the description that we used in September 2007 when we sold this note as part of the Fred Mayer collection. It was estimated at $1250 and realized $1,840. PMG has graded 114 examples of this number no doubt including many re-grades. This remains the only 66 with a single 67 above it. PCGS has graded 45 examples with none higher than a 64. On today's quality conscious market we would expect a price well above the $2000 mark.
