    Description

Fr. 1381 50¢ Fifth Issue Back Proof PCGS Apparent Extremely Fine 45.
From our sale of the Tom O'Mara Collection in May of 2005 where it was described as follows: "Milton 5E50R.3 50¢ Fifth Issue Proof About New. Acquired by Tom in his purchase of the Hales' Collection. This piece is the plate single Proof from plate 29. It has one very light fold through the design and a very long tear outside of the design area, which has been rather well repaired. The piece originally appeared in the Chapman Brothers Sale of the Wilcox Collection in 1903." PCGS has lowered the grade by five points and assigned the Apparent for the repaired tear and slight discoloration. An important note for the Fractional specialist particularly with the plate number. It realized $977 in 2005 and should due far better this evening.
