    Description

Fr. 1266 10¢ Fifth Issue PMG Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ.
Nice margins are observed on this attractive, well-preserved Meredith note. William Morris Meredith (1799-1873) was graduated from the University of Pennsylvania at the age of 13. He was appointed Secretary of the Treasury in 1849 by President Zachary Taylor. The timing of Meredith's demise led to his portrait appearing on these notes. These Fifth Issue 10¢ Fractionals were issued from July 1874 until February 15, 1876.
