    Tete-Beche 10¢ Pair

10¢ Fifth Issue Tete-Beche Pair PMG Gem Uncirculated 65.
Only seven tete-beche 10¢ Fifth Issue pairs exist, all of which trace their origins to a single sheet which was discovered in 1985. The sheet was cut and divided among the major collectors of the day. The notes are true proofs, with ink laid on so heavily and sharply that the design elements can be felt with one's fingers. This tete-beche arrangement was created so that the localized anticounterfeiting stain could be produced in the center of the sheet and still appear at the proper end of each note when the notes were separated. The last tete-beche pair we sold was a 50¢ pair which sold for more than $2500 in January of 2010. That pair was graded About Uncirculated 53 by PMG. This pair, should easily exceed that number.
