    Description

Negative Essay Denomination Set in Blue Milton 2E5R.2c, 2E10R.5c, 2E25R.1b, 2E50R.1e. Identical to the previous purple set in every respect but for color. From our sale of the Friedberg Collection in 1997, where it was described, "Again, all four notes grade Superb Gem New, but for a nit-picking brown spot at the bottom of the 25ยข away from the design. As with the purple set, only two examples of each note are known to exist. None from this blue set has ever been publicly offered. This is the first opportunity since the day they were printed 134 years ago [now 142] to purchase a blue Negative Essay of any denomination at a public sale. Like the purple set offered in the previous lot, the impressions are exceptionally sharp, and the embossing effect through to the back is amazingly distinct. At the expense of desensitizing already jaded readers with another superlative, this set ranks with its purple counterpart as Milt's most outstanding item." Eight years later, all that remains true. No others have ever reached the market, and this Friedberg (now O'Mara) set is a treasure.

The way you grouped lots, photographed, and presented the material was too notch. I was impressed that you took the time to attribute coins to the Krause reference as their "plate coin" and that many of your descriptions included pertinent facts and infor
