Milton 1P25F.1e 25¢ First Issue Proof. A gorgeous Wide Margin 25¢ Proof printed in the normal brown ink but on pure white paper. It's from the completed plate, but a far sharper impression than that seen on regular-issue notes. The paper has an extremely light "945" printed at the top of the wide margin. There are four small round punch holes at the bottom of the design. The Proof is mounted to a large board, and the mounting was accomplished prior to the printing, as the impression of the plate and the embossing of the printing can be clearly seen through to the back of the card. Included is a second card, which from the embossing alone shows us that the 50¢ First Issue Proof had once been attached. The note is now missing, but the embossing remains clear. Both items trace their history to the Memphis 1983 HIM auction. (Total: 2 items)
