Serial Number 1 Bicentennial Deuce Star

Serial Number 1 Fr. 1935-K* $2 1976 Federal Reserve Note. PMG Very Fine 30.
A great modern rarity that is only the second serial number 1 Bicentennial $2 star known to be in private hands. The other known number 1 deuce star is from the San Francisco district. It made its last public appearance in our FUN 2018 auction. It graded PCGS 64PPQ and realized $25,200. Our current offering has seen some circulation, whether it was actually plucked from the channels of commerce by a sharp-eyed collector or was simply carried for a while as a proud souvenir remains a matter of conjecture, yet it still retains bright paper and all of its bold ink colors. PMG has added the ubiquitous comment of "minor thinning" to its holder of this mid-grade note, but no flaws are readily discernable. Regardless, it is a great note for the modern small size specialist and will certainly be a highlight of the next collection it enters.
