Fr. 879a* $5 1914 Federal Reserve Note PMG About Uncirculated 55.
This scarce Minneapolis star may well be the finest Fr. 879a star known to exist, as only two pieces have been graded AU by a third party grading company. This is the nicer of the pair, and by a full five points at that. It is also the finest example to be offered at public sale during the past quarter century, having last appeared in our September 1996 CAA auction. The PCGS About New 50 example we sold back in 2010 fetched $1,955, and it would not surprise us at all to see this superior specimen exceed that number by a substantial amount tonight.
