Description

Bright and Attractive Chicago $5,000

Fr. 2221-G $5,000 1934 Federal Reserve Note. PMG Choice Extremely Fine 45.
Just 6,600 $5,000 FRNs were printed for distribution through the Chicago Federal Reserve. Used mainly in bank to bank transactions, most were redeemed and sent back to the Fed for destruction. Any surviving $5,000 or $10,000 is a welcome sight for numismatists. This sharply printed and well margined offering is a new entrant to the reported Chicago $5,000s as its serial number is not listed in either the Sullivan or Track & Price census. PMG has added a comment about a repair which appears to be nothing more than a closed edge split.
