Unique PMG Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ 1928 St. Louis $5 FRN - The Sole Finest Graded

Fr. 1950-H $5 1928 Federal Reserve Note. PMG Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ.
The St. Louis District $5 Federal Reserve Notes from 1928 were one of the lowest production runs for the Series. Attrition in the economically battered Midwest left collectors with few survivors to choose from. Between PMG and PCGS, barely a half dozen examples are reported in Uncirculated grades. Tonight's offering is the sole piece to achieve the "66" level with none finer from either service. With great centering, blazing ink colors, and superb paper surfaces, it is certainly worthy of its assigned grade. Five years ago, we sold a PMG Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ note for $16,450. This clearly superior piece certainly is capable of exceeding that level.
