Fine 35.Today one lucky collector will have the opportunity to own the finer of the two Dallas brown seal $100 star notes known. Just over 16 years ago, the Dr. Cookson example realized $23,000, which appeared to be a bargain at the time as the note was originally acquired by Cookson for $33,000 in 2001. A minor scuff at the upper right on the face, which PMG refers to as an erasure, detracts little from the overall upper mid-grade appeal this note possesses. In terms of numeric grade this piece is over two times as nice as the other piece. Again, we will estimate this small size rarity conservatively, and let the bidders ultimately decide, with only one emerging victorious.
