Serial Number 5 FRBN Replacement Rarity

Fr. 1850-I* $5 1929 Federal Reserve Bank Note. PCGS Very Fine 20.
The last appearance of any $5 Minneapolis Federal Reserve Bank Note star was this piece which realized more than $5,000 in our offering of the Taylor Family holdings. At the time it was described, "Just six $5 stars are recorded from the Minneapolis district, with this the only low number example in the group. It is in fact the lowest known serial number on any $5 star save for the number 1 Boston example sold in the Oakes Collection in 2003. This piece also came from that sale, where it went for $5,290. Hard to estimate, but our guess is that it will come very near that number this evening." With a long track record of realizations over $5,000 and no replacements appearing at auction since, we expect every bit of the same number or more this evening.
