DescriptionType II Inverted Overprint on Back Error Fr. 1913-E $1 1985 Federal Reserve Note. PCGS Banknote Gem Unc 66 PPQ.
This is a dramatic error as a half sheet of 16 entered the overprint press with its back side closest to the press and the bottom of the sheet was incorrectly oriented to the top. This example is from the A1 sheet position. This lucky happenstance left sheet numbers along the top edge, 179818 at upper left on the face and 178561 at upper right on the back. Looking through our archives, we found that this is the highest grade for this error type on a $1 that we have auctioned.
