    Description

Fr. 1532 $5 1953 Legal Tender Note. PMG Very Fine 20 Net.
The back was printed terribly awry on this $5 Legal. It is the plate letter L note and thus it is at bottom center of the middle row of a sheet of 18. This resulted in the back three paper guide line markers (fondly known as the Christmas tree alignment indicator) remaining with this $5. Errors on Legal Tenders are much scarcer than errors on Silver Certificates and FRNs. Also, this is one of the most drastic examples of this class of error that we have ever offered on a $5 Legal. Thinning is mentioned on the third party label. The thinning is far away from the note along the back right edge of the selvage.
