DescriptionObstructed Printing Errors Fr. 36 $1 1917 Legal Tenders Two Consecutive Examples PMG About Uncirculated 55 EPQ; About Uncirculated 53 EPQ.
Both of these consecutive serial number obstructed printing errors are found on the back and both were caused by the same paper fragment that straddled across the two notes as the unprinted areas line up exactly. The plate letter B 55 EPQ note has a non-printed area that is approximately 1.5 inches long and 3mm wide at its widest point. The plate letter C 53 EPQ example has a non-printed area in the shape of a dog leg. It also measures approximately 1.5 inches long with its widest point being 3mm, too. We believe that the former is lot 396 from the Part I auction of the Albert A. Grinnell Collection that was held on November 25, 1944 by Barney Bluestone. It is described as, "this note shows a comet-like white spike about half way across the back." That is exactly what this obstructed printing looks like and also pinpoints its location. It took many years to reunite this error pair. (Total: 2 notes)
