    Series 1929 National With Mismatched Charter Numbers-The Finest of Three Known

    Tigerton, WI - $5 Ty. 2 First NB Ch. # 14150/12150
    One of the great National Bank Note errors ever discovered. The charter numbers are mismatched on this Type 2 note, with the brown number on the right the correct 14150 and the brown charter number on the right reading 12150. This is only the second error of its kind reported from this bank, with the one other example considerably lower grade than this bright and barely circulated piece. We know of only one other mismatched charter error on any Series 1929 National Bank Note, a somewhat lower grade Type 2 $5 note from the First NB of Ashland, Virginia which we sold in 2009. This high grade piece has been graded Extremely Fine 40PPQ by PCGS and is utterly flawless for the grade.
