    Description

    Enigmatic $100 Printing Error

Fr. 2171-B $100 1985 Federal Reserve Note. Choice Crisp Uncirculated. What appears on the surface to be just a rather dramatic foldover error is clearly considerably more, as this note is fresh, new, and utterly original, with, with the exception of one light handling mark, no traces of any folds whatever. We are at a loss to explain how this note can bear two district seals on the reverse unless it was turned at an almost 90 degree angle in the press, but there is no fold to indicate that this was ever the case. Whatever the cause, this is a dramatic and major error on a denomination which seldom is available with errors that are so unusual.
