Dual Inverted Star Dallas $100 Federal Reserve Note

Fr. 2150-K* $100 1928 Federal Reserve Note. PCGS Very Fine 20.
A wonderful note which under normal circumstances would be quite rare but given the fact this piece exhibits not one but two inverted stars makes it legendary. In fact, back in September of 2002 we sold an example displaying just one inverted star for $11,500.00. An operator error caused the stars to be placed in the numbering wheel upside down. The stars are rotated 180 degrees and the crown points point directly down. This error type from the Dallas district has never been offered at public auction and was also missing from the famed Taylor Family Collection sold by us in February 2005. It should generate plenty of bidder interest here this evening. The Schwartz and Lindquist guide lists a value for a VF note right at $8000. Expect our conservative estimate here for this note carrying serial number K00001829* to possibly be surpassed.
