Printed Scrap $5 FragmentFr. 1980-F $5 1988A Federal Reserve Note. PCGS Choice About New 58PPQ.
This extraordinary and unique looking error escaped detection at the BEP and was discovered by an armored car employee in a shipment of new notes. It is quite possible that it laid on top of another note as an obstruction and subsequently fell off after the brick was opened. Printed scrap fragments such as this typically occur during the cutting process and usually do not escape the BEP. The partial serial number shows that it ultimately was destined to circulate. This interesting piece show parts of two separate notes which were cut into the shape of an obtuse triangle, further enhancing the eye appeal.
