Dramatic Double Third Printing 1976 $2

Fr. 1935-D $2 1976 Federal Reserve Note. PMG Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ.
There are two complete third printings on the face of this Cleveland deuce, dark and slightly off of each other. This double printing provided this $2 with two serial numbers, D22822656A and D22822652A, on both the left and right side. Also, the Cleveland district seal, the Treasury Seal, and all four of the district identifiers are double printed. This is one of the most dramatic errors ever to escape from the BEP, and all the more special for being on the coveted $2 denomination. This is proven by the prices these errors realize. The last example we offered was a PCGS 65PPQ piece that realized $15,862.50 in September 2014. Over a year later, look for the winning bid to exceed that amount tonight.
