    Spectacular Double Back Note

    A truly spectacular error which is the first to be offered at auction to our knowledge. According to Stephen Sullivan, the rarest Non-Standard Multiple Impression is a note that has a correctly positioned back printed over its face. The extra back printing is equally as dark as the normal back printing. This particular note matches the image in the US Error Note Encyclopedia almost to a "T," carrying the same last five digits in the serial number of Lxxx05281F. The multiple back printings are not easily missed, though it is not hard to see why this rare error is so easily confused with the more common offset error. Two distinct Back Plate numbers are seen. The first back printing was Back Plate 43 while the additional back printing over the face was Back Plate 44.
